1. Book Early

All dances are booked on a first come, first serve basis, so if you want to request a specific disc jockey, the earlier the better.

2. Book Total Entertainment

All DJ services aren’t exactly kosher – you might have heard horror stories about a DJ sadly lacking in the skills to perform a good job or a service that simply doesn’t show up. How much do you have invested if your event is a flop? If you saved five hundred dollars on the DJ but spent thousands on a reception, did you get the value that you anticipated? Many DJ companies charge an unwarranted inflated rate for their service without the experience. Our staff performs more Bar/Bat Mitzvah receptions in one month than many companies perform ever! Our goal is to give our clients the best entertainment value for their money. Ask your friends, family, fellow synagogue members, your banquet facility, your caterer, or your photographer what experiences they’ve seen at Bar/Bat Mitzvah receptions – you might be surprised at what they say. You could spend more money on other DJs and not be as pleased with the result. No other DJ company is rooted in the community like we are; other services have nothing to lose if they don’t perform up to your expectations. We put our reputation on the line each time we perform. We’ve been a consistent force and the leader in the Simcha market because we have a format that’s both classic and innovative! Our performers are not only talented, but they love working with kids.

3. Pay close attention to your Bar/Bat Mitzvah Information Sheet

Great efforts are made by our staff to follow your specific needs & directions for your reception. Our success rate has been phenomenal. Help us make sure that no detail is overlooked between your family and our DJ because of lack of communication. Make sure to fill out your information sheet completely. Even though it may be easier to phone us, information can be related to our DJ more readily when it’s on paper. We need your information sheets at least 2 weeks before your Simcha to guarantee the best possible job. Keep it in a handy spot so you can refer to it from time to time until your dates get closer and your details become more evident. Keep a copy for yourself so our DJ can phone you and discuss the agenda. We can also set up a personal meeting with your DJ in our office to make sure your ideas come to life. At your event, please remember that sometimes circumstances may develop where adjustments may be needed to better serve your family or guests. Please feel welcomed to approach our staff members anytime. We pride ourselves in our ability to be flexible, to help address your immediate requests or concerns.

4. What to do during dinner?

Although it’s traditional to start out with dinner music, bar/bat mitzvahs don’t always allow you the luxury to do so. To help matters, we recommend that kids be served last. Kids are known to eat extremely fast. You’ll find that they may behave better when they have to stick around the table before they eat. We can start the event with more low-key contents such as limbo or musical boys that will be less disruptive to your formal dinner guests. We recommend optional services such as magicians, button makers, karaoke machines, etc. during dinner time for those clients who have a more elaborate budget. For another idea try the Total Entertainment Karaoke Show. A little extra planning ahead of time will help keep kids out of trouble. Remember, dinner time is also a great time for our staff to get to know your teens so they’ll be willing to engage in activities later.

5. How to get the kids to dance?

Sometimes this may not be easy. A Total Entertainment format is designed for short attention spans. If there is less dancing, expect more contents. Kids have fun when they’re occupied. Consider extra dancers or extra prize giveaways. When planning your Simcha, try to invite as many kids as possible, and try to make every effort to have an even number of boys and girls. THIS WILL HELP!
